The capital Quito is situated at an elevation of 9,350 feet above sea level. It lies in a beautiful valley surrounded by the magnificent snowy peaks of the Andes. On clear days, this extraordinary geographic location provides a spectacular view of the surrounding Andes. Due to its pleasant climate, Quito is also known as the ’city of eternal spring’. Quito is one of the most beautiful, richest and oldest cities in South America.

Over the centuries Quito has been fought over and control of the city has changed hands frequently. At one point the Inca Empire controlled this city only to see the Spanish conquer it in 1534. Today the historic city centre with its magnificent palaces dating back to colonial times has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and is full of lively, vibrant markets where trades people from all over the country offer their goods for sale.

Modern Quito

Our language school is situated in the modern part of the city which is characterised by numerous parks, modern office blocks and beautiful residential areas, as well as many historical buildings.

Our language school is located in Batán Alto, which is one of the nicest neighbourhoods in the modern part of the city. Batán Alto is situated on an incline of the valley, and the school offers fantastic views of the whole city and the Pichincha Volcano which is located on the other side of the valley. You can also quite easily get to Mariscal, the tourist area of the city, by bus. There you will find numerous bars, restaurants, hostels and nightclubs.
