Languages abroad - Ecuador
Ecuador is located on the equator in the northwest region of South America. It borders Colombia in the north, Peru in the east and south, and the Pacific Ocean in the west. Despite its relatively small size, which approximately corresponds to half the size of France, Ecuador is probably the country with the most diverse landscape in the world: including tropical rainforests, the snow-covered Andes that stretch across the country, to the Mediterranean-like coast with its sandy beaches. It is difficult to decide what the most attractive aspect of Ecuador is. Perhaps it’s the beautiful colonial cities surrounded by the beautiful valleys of the Andes, or the tropical beaches along the Pacific coastline. Some might say it’s the spectacular volcanoes and traditional Indian markets high up in the Andes, or the unique natural sanctuary that can be found on the Galapagos Islands.
For others, the most stunning aspect might be the breathtaking rainforests of the Amazon with their lush vegetation, wide rivers and stunning wildlife such as butterflies, monkeys and tapirs. The natural and cultural diversity of Ecuador is truly unique. Here you can find the whole of South America in one country! Ecuadorians speak a very clear Spanish, which facilitates rapid learning results, especially for the beginning language student. They are famous for their friendliness and hospitability, and will offer you many opportunities to practise your newly acquired Spanish skills! Ecuador is also one of the safest countries in Latin America, which makes it an attractive destinations for tourists as well as language students.
