During this weekend tour, participants will have the opportunity to explore the marvels of the Tortuguero National Park. This unique national park is located in northern Costa Rica on the Caribbean coast. We start with a bus tour from Santo Domingo crossing the Braulio Carillo National Park, followed by a two hour boat trip to Tortuguero. While on the boat trip, students can observe the beautiful fauna of Costa Rica, including monkeys, turtles, caimans, tucans, parrots, and many other species.

From a distance you can witness the nesting areas of giant turtles as they lay their eggs during the months of September and October in Tortuguero. The next morning, there will be a canoe trip, on which students will be able to see wildlife like monkeys, frogs, and caimans up close. In the afternoon, we make the return boat and bus trips back to Santo Domingo.

Arenal Volcano

This weekend excursion takes students to the active Arenal Volcano. For more than 10 years, the Arenal Volcano has been active every day. In the evening, we make a trip to the volcano, where you can see glowing, red lava and even eruptions from close proximity (but a safe distance away). This is a breathtaking natural spectacle that will surely stay in your memory for the rest of your life. Later, the evening is rounded off with a visit to a hot spring. The next morning we journey to Arenal Lagoon and a hanging garden in the rainforest. The return trip to Santo Domingo de Heredia is later that afternoon.

Canopying

This excursion begins as we head off from Santo Domingo in the afternoon once classes have ended. Canopyping is your chance to play „Cliffhanger“ as you fly through the treetops and over rivers on harnesses attached to ropes.

Participants will observe various monkeys and birds while savouring the surrounding nature and the adrenalin of the experience at the same time. This is a great opportunity to experience the natural beauty of Costa Rica right up close.

Rafting

The rafting excursion starts very early in the morning as we head in the direction of the Caribbean coast. In the Braulio Carillo National Park we turn towards the Rio Pacuare, famous for its rapids. Full of anticipation, we will embark here on a boat trip including class 3 and 4 rapids. After two and a half hours on the water it will be time for a substantial lunch of tacos and fruits. The excitement continues with another 2 hours in the boats before we arrive at our goal destination in the afternoon. We make our trip back to Santo Domingo from here after a long and breathtaking adventure.

Aerial Tram

From Santo Domingo we drive again toward the Braulio Carillo National Park. There we will begin a guided hike through the national park, learning about the various trees, plants, and animals. We will then cross the park in a gondola that rises to various heights and even above the tree level. From here students have an incredible view of the national park with its unique animal and plant world.

Poas Volcano

This excursion begins early in the morning with a trip to Alajuela, where we will climb to the summit of the Poas Volcano. After a short walk by foot, you can marvel at the 300 meter wide and 1300 meter long crater. This volcano is still active, Here you can also see geysers spurting from numerous rock crevices.

La Paz Waterfall

Next to the volcano‘s crater there is a lagoon that the group will visit as well. On the return trip to Santo Domingo de Heredia, we will additionally make a visit to the amazing natural spectacle of the La Paz Waterfall.
